Globe Trot- October 16, 2008

My kid is a runner. This is something we discovered when he was about 3 and wanted to go around Lake Padden with Daddy. By 4 he was running all of Lake Padden with just a small stop or two. Last year in Kindergarten he ran 21 laps at his jog-a-thon which was the equivalent of about 2 1/2 miles. This year as a first grader he was determined once again to run as long as he could (they give each class 30 minutes) and pass his number of laps from the year before. The thing I love to see is the determination on his face, the drive to keep going, and the unconcern about what everyone else is doing. He has his goal in his head and he sticks to it. This year he did great again and had a blast. Brennen ran 26 laps in 30 minutes and felt really good about what he accomplished. I felt proud that he reached a goal he set for himself and enjoyed doing it!
Waiting for the Globe Trot to begin.

Running man.

Check out the look on his face! :)

Running...

...and still running.

Brennen coming in to the finish. The rubber bands on his arm are for every lap he ran.

Hanging out with friends at the end of the Globe Trot.

Showing Mom the number of laps he ran.

Tell me more about this! How cool! How far was a lap? Good job, Brennen!

That's impressive! It takes a special person to be a runner, imo. :)
